Hello

My name is Savanah (yes, that’s Savanah with one “n” in it—ask me about that later)! I went to a Christian school up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from Baptist College of Ministry in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and Music Pedagogy & Performance.

My Story

My passion for music began when I first started taking piano lessons as a freshmen in college (it’s never too late to start)! I was taking piano lessons for fun but that quickly changed when I saw the need for training up new pianists to use their gifts to bless and serve others. I switched over my degree from Elementary Education to Music in the middle of my sophomore year and never looked back! I accomplished both a Junior and Senior Recital performing classical works and have over 10+ years experience teaching beginner to intermediate students. Currently, I am playing piano and singing weekly at my church!

When I am not singing, playing, or teaching piano, you can find me baking sourdough bread, trying new artsy crafts, getting coffee, browsing at antique shops, or fishing with my hubby!

My Teaching Style

I have been a piano teacher for over 10 years and have developed an approach to piano lessons that works with my strengths and personality. I focus on 5 things:

  • Technique: development of finger/wrist strength, dexterity, form, posture, and accuracy.

  • Music Theory: Learning the rules and why's of music.

  • Improvisation: learning the language and structure of music in practical application.

  • Repertoire: Classical piano literature, hymn-playing, and exploring other genres.

  • Ear training: Singing and learning to identify and  play music on the piano without seeing any music.

Parents are encouraged to assist their child at home and observe the lessons.
